Exporting/Importing Contacts

I need step by step instructions on how to export my contacts from my
Outlook XP on my desktop
to my new laptop computer also Outlook XP. I tried the wizard but got some
kind of message of access being denied.
My computers are connected to a network but I am really new to networking
and somehow actually got
the network working but not sure how to transfer over all my contact info.
If someone could please help I would greatly appreciate it
