Expression Builder-cannot copy or paste

Access2003: I am frustrated by the fact that I can't copy from or paste into
the Expression Builder (or the Zoom window if available). I have recently
changed from Access2000 where I could do it. I used to be able to develop
quite complicated formulae in say Word and then copy and paste into the
expression builder.
Is there a default setting I have overlooked?
