External Dependencies

I have a master project comprised of multiple sub
projects. These projects have external dependencies
between each other. When I move directories on the
network the external dependencies pull from the old
directory and create another dependency in the new
directory. Such as:

I:\path\4_13\task #
I:\path\4_13\task #

Has anyone seen this and can anyone help?
