extracting text only

I have a column in a spreadsheet that contains a code. The code starts
with 2 - 4 letters then finishes with a series of numbers.

E.G. AGB7655

How can I extract only the letters at the beginning, when I don't know
how many there are going to be?

ASAP Utilities, a free Excel Add-in, has this as one of it's
features....."Delete all numbers in selection"..........it works good

Try the following...

=LEFT(A1,MIN(SEARCH({0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9},A1&"0123456789"))-1)
