Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

After running the 11.5.5 update on my Office 2004 for Mac, the FILE menu is completely MISSING!! How can I get it back, please?

(Although I could customize commands onto the File menu IF I had one, there seems to be no why to insert, restore, or unhide the File menu itself back onto the main Toolbar.

Yes, I've rebooted. Many times.

Thanks!!

You don't need to "customize" anything, but that's where you start :)

First thing to try: In Tools> Customize> Customize Toolbars/Menus go to the
Toolbars page, click the name of the Menu Bar then click the Reset button.

If that doesn't correct it go on to phase #2: In the same Customize dialog
go to the Commands page. Scroll to the bottom of the Commands list & select
Built-in Menus then from the Commands list drag File to its rightful place
on the Word Menu Toolbar [which displays directly below the actual Menu whil
in that dialog].

YES! The Reset button at Tools>Customize>Customize Toolbars/Menus put everything back to normal. I just highlighted "Menu Bar" and clicked the Reset button as you instructed! Even my list of previously opened files was restored perfectly.

Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!!!!

I've marked this one as Answered!
