File opens in wrong app.

Oh_Danny_Boy

Hi I am having trouble with all my saved word documents. They are saved in my
documents folder and everytime I go to open a word file by double clicking
it, it opens in Publisher instead of Word. Lets say my file is Danny's letter
home.doc well I wrote it in Word and saved it from word, now it opens in
Publisher. Also this is what happens if I recieve through E-mail a word doc
it opens in Publisher. Now I can right click the file and chose to open in
word, and it is fine and editing is not an issue. But why won't it open in
Word where it was created.
Any help would be extreemly appreciated

The following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Articles describes the
command-line switches that can be used to start Word and their purpose.

How to use startup command line switches to start Word 2000, Word XP (2002),
and Word 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/210565/

Word for Windows Startup Switches (applies to Word 97 and older versions)

Without knowing what version of Microsoft Word you have, no one can say 100%
sure as to what command line switch you would need to run.

To all other users:
There are also Excel and PowerPoint articles which describes what
command-line switches can be used.

Description of the startup switches for Excel - applies to Excel 97, Excel
2000, Excel XP (2002), and Excel 2003

I hope these links help (for you and others).
