Find an image "sent to back"

I am using Office 2007 on XP. When an image is "sent to back", how can I
find it again? Clicking all over doesn't locate the image. This applies to
either Word or PowerPoint. Do you know of some trick?

Trainer,
What happens if you click the Select button in the edit group of the Home
tab? Can you select it now? Should work in Word also, same place.
In PowerPoint you can also use the selection and visibility taskpane, which
you can find under the forementioned button. Hide all objects and then click
on the image you want to select.
If all that does not work, maybe you have added the image to the master
slide. In that case, click View tab, choose Slide Master and see if the
image is there.

Nope, the Select button doesn't recognize the image which is a .jpg file.
Nor does the Find when I choose "graphic" This is crazy - you can send it
to the back but you can't find it again. My problem this time is in Word,
but the same thing has occurred in PowerPoint.
