Find and copy data

I have a spreadsheet with names and numerical value
associated with each person in a list. I have another
sheet that has the names of the people but I am missing
the numbers. I don't want to enter the numbers because it
will increase errors. One sheet is in alpha order, but
the other one is not. Can you have a formula that tells
it to look for the name and copy the values associated
with each name into a new column? Thanks.

I think you may want to look at the VLOOKUP function...

This is from some help I received last week (5/19) in this forum o
VLOOKUP:

=VLOOKUP(A1,Sheet1!$A$1:$B$100,2,0)

change ranges to suit. the zero type-set on the end will find an exac
match. if none are found, results will be the #N/A error. for option
ridding that, check out this link:
