find in all folders

When I use the find feature and select 'all folders' as the search area, I can't open the emails that come up. The error says 'Can't open this message'. When I go to that same message's home folder it opens with no problem. This happens with every message that I find. Has anyone seen this before?

Which version of outlook?
What type of mail account? If exchange, is antivirus scanner running on the
server?
