Fixed duration not so fixed

Hi All,
I have a task wich is Fixed duration and not effort driven. The task is 8
days long and I have a few resources assigned to it. When I change the
actual work, the duration increases !

Resource 1, 80%, 16,8 hours Work
Resources 2 to 8, 20%, 1,4 hours Work

When I put in the following Actual Work:
Resource 1, 30 hours AW, 54%, duration still 8 days
Resource 2, 7 hours AW, 13%, duration increases to 15 days !

And the same pattern goes on for resources 3 to 8...

Does anyone have a pointer to give on what's going in my plan ?

Hi David,

It's a bit difficult to tell what is going on from your description.

You tell us how much actual work you are entering, but don't tell us how
you are entering the work.

What does the 54% represent -- % complete or % work complete or
assignment units? If Resource 1 has 30 hours of actual work, how can
s/he be 54% complete -- when the original scheduled work was just under
17 hours of work?

Give us a bit more details on your setup (what is your definition of a
"day" for example -- how many working hours -- ), how are you adding the
actual work -- what view, and we'll try to assist.
