Folders not visible in word

During a file open command, sub-folders under " My
Documents\Test\ or \Nkomati\ or \any new sub-folder " will
fail to appear when in MS word 2000. Yet these folders are
perfectly visible using explorer.Folder options are set
correct and pointing to the correct user under documents
and settings. What could be the problem. Even after a
complete Win 2000 and office installation problem still
occurs.
