Font size of Help!

OK this is a really weird one.
When I was working in Access a few years ago this never happened.

Now when I open the Help screen in Access most of the time it comes up
with a very tiny font that I can't read.

I need to open my browser, select a larger font and then come back to
Access, close the Help screen and re-open it!

What's going on, and how can I stop this nonsense?

Help file's text is controlled by the Text Size in Internet Explorer. Change
the text size there (View | Text Size ... )

If you have a mouse with a scroll-wheel, you can just hold down the ctrl key
and scroll to increase (or decrease!) the size of the text (after clicking
in the help text section of the window). This change will "stick"; it
changes the default text size.

Unfortunately I don't have a scroll-wheel mouse.
I use Avant Browser which basically uses IE as its core, so I don't see
why I have to keep going back and change it. It's not locking in.

Isn't it strange that a Database program's font is dependent upon a
browser's font?

Well, I don't know about Avant Browser, so I can't comment on why your text
size default doesn't stick.

As for your other comment, all Microsoft help files (and those of many other
programs) are produced as chm files (stands for compiled help module), and
the help system displays them using some internal Windows code which is also
used by the IE (and other - I use Firefox) browser. It's not the database
program at all! Perhaps if you fire up IE itself (as a one-time use - I'm
not suggesting you change browsers!) and change the default text size there,
the change will stick.

Or get a scroll-wheel mouse - they're excellent ;-) The only down-side is
that the scroll-wheel can change the current record in Access forms - see
the hundreds of posts asking for how to disable it!

Thanks.

i see. OK I'll give IE a shot and see if it works. But I believe I
tried that out a few days ago.

Yeah, when I upgrade my system I'll definitely go for a scroll mouse.
I'm still using Win '98 and I've tried several times over the years to
get a scroll mouse to work with it and it just never happened. :(
