Form wont work as an ASP page

Hello--

I am hoping someone here can help me. I need a form page to be .asp. The
form resides in a password protected section of the web site and that is the
reason for the .asp. I have no problem creating the form but it does not
submit-- I get no confirmation page nor do I get the email it is supposed to
generate. If I change the extension of the page to .htm, it works fine-- I
get the confirmation page and an email message is sent. The page will not
work as an .shtml either.

What's up? I can't believe you can only have a form on a .htm page. What do
I need to do to make this work.
