formatting index numbering

I have tried to set up an index which formats page numbers like this 1-10,
15,19-21 instead of what I currently get - 1,2,3,5,... (you get the
picture).

Anyone able to help, please!

What you need to do is enter a page range, and Word does that using bookmarks. The online help explains how in a topic titled "Mark index entries for text that spans a range of pages"
