are there keyboard shortcuts that allow a user to change text to
super/subscript in excel (2003/2007)? if not, I do not see why Microsoft has
not made that change.

Not that I know.

I would bet it's because MS thinks that excel is not a word processor.

Well, there sort of is one, provided your entry is text (formatted as Text
or having a leading apostrophe) and not numeric... select the character you
want to change and, with the Alt key held down, key in "oee" (for
superscript) or "oeb" (for subscript) then release the Alt key and hit the
Enter key.
