Formatting tool bar "grays out'

Hello; I'm a first time poster.I'm running outlook 2002 and a
experiencing the formatting toolbar 'graying out' as soon as I selec
'new' to start a new message. Have tried reseting toolbar to no avail
Any help is appreciated. tk

Check to see what FORMAT you have set for your mail.

Open the TOOLS menu
Select OPTIONS...
Select the MAIL FORMAT tab

If you are set for PLAIN TEXT you will not have any
formatting options because it is just plain ol text.

Change the setting to either HTML or RICH TEXT.

You can also use Word as your editor, but I do not
really suggest this for most Outlook clients because of
the complications that can occur.
