Formula Question

Hey,

So I go to Custom Fields (Tools-Custom-Fields) then I choose Task as
field and Number as type.

My formula is [Predecessors] > [ID]

Here is the question, if the Predecessors field has more than one
Predecessor listed for a tasks, is there something I need to alter so
the formula will look at each Predecessor within that one tasks
seperate?

Also if I have created a lag or lead on a task do I need to modify the
formula to accomidate for that?

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I don't think a formula can loop through a predecessor list and since
"4FS+3d" is not a number your formula cannot interpret that either.
To do all you want you will need a VBA routine

I think you are better off doing this with VBA.
An example which is similar to this is here:
http://zo-d.com/blog/archives/programming/ms-project-vba-earliest-predecessor.html
It is similar in that you will loop through the Task.Predecessors collection
and look at the data for them.
I'd store the information in a text field rather than a number as you can
only have one number in a number field while a text field allows you to have
many numbers separated by whatever you want.

For more info look at some of the other posts in the "Programming" category
on my website.
