The law office where I work is running Office 2000 on Win2K and XP machines.
Outlook is configured as "Internet only" - it's been working just fine thus
far. However...
We receive a large number of emails from the local courts, all of which is
currently handled on one specific machine (a Win2K box, not specifically set
up as a server or anything like that. Note: we are *not* running an
Exchange server either).
We now wish to have specific kinds of messages with specific text in the
subject or body and a couple other conditions to be forwarded to specific
individuals' accounts.
A sample of the rule I created in Outlook 2000 follows:
1. mail from (e-mail address removed) (this address is always the same)
2. with XX in the subject (to identify the particular court official -
this is a keyword, not an email address - this governs who gets it)
3. and with XXXX in the subject or body (to filter on just this one type
of document)
4. forward to (e-mail address removed) <-- new condition being added (routes to
person in condition 2)
5. and move it to the Stuff From Court folder (once this all works, this
step will be deleted)
Previously, we were just moving the identified messages to specific folders
on our incoming mail machine - this has always worked just fine.
However, Outlook out-and-out fails to forward ANY messages (existing or
incoming) whatsoever! If I click on an individual message that meets these
same conditions, and do a "Run Now" command through the Rules Wizard, it'll
work just FINE, but only on that ONE message, regardless of how many others
there may be, even if I run the rule focused on the Inbox and have the
"include subfolders" option checked.
This is, to say the least, more than just a bit annoying, as we can
potentially receive hundreds of messages that meet the filtering
qualifications each day!
For what it's worth, I tried setting up a simplified test of the rule that
would forward a message from person X in my office to person Y. It was just
a straightforward "if it's from this address, forward it to this other
address" rule, which worked just fine.
I've even tried to simplify the longer rule shown above by eliminating the
"move it to the Stuff From Court folder" (step #5) argument, still with no
success whatsoever.
Any ideas??? I've made sure the machine in question has all the service
packs and all that, for what it's worth. I really need to find the solution
to this as soon as possible, before I get lynched by the rest of the staff!!
Mucho thanks,
Brian.
