This may seem like a simple question. But I have never
had this happen. My functions are not automaticaly
executing. I have to click on them to work. Is there a
setting that I activated and did not know?

Go to tools then options then calculation then click on
Automatic rather than Manual.

Or just SHIFT+F9 for force calculation of individual
spreadsheet or just F9 for total workbooks.

Do they execute when you hit CRTL + ALT + F9?

One possible cause could be you are on "Manual" calculation mode. Check
Tools>Options>Calculation and set to "Automatic".
