Getting outlook to automatically check for mail when opening

just switched to outlook, cannot get outlook to check for
new mail when opening the application. always have to hit
send/receive to get it to check, ideas?

If you go under "Tools", then "Options" then "Mail
Delivery" you can chenge how frequently it sends and
receives messages.
