Got a online template for powerpoint from Microsoft online but can't get rid
of the white border that showed up in page preview. Have tried to resize,
etc. Are their margins I need to eliminate.

Are you talking about page preview in the print dialogue? Most printers,
except a few very expensive ones, can't print right to the edge of the paper
(those are the margins where the printer needs to "grip" the sheet).
PowerPoint knows these margins because of the printer settings and shows
them.

There should be no white borders in screen show mode.
