graphics conversion from small .jpg to 10x .png

Publisher 2003 appears to be converting some of my relatively small .jpg
graphics to 10x larger .png files when I publish to the web. For example,
I've got a 100KB .jpg file that was converted to 1000KB .png file .Does
anyone know why or how to stop it from doing so? It does not convert all the
jpg files just some of them.

Go to Tools > Options > Web tab and uncheck "Rely on VML..." and "Allow
PNG...", and then compress your images before you upload. Reference:
