Graphics not visible when scrolling

Hans Stope

I use Word 2003 to make my daily reports. They consist out of copy and
pasting graphics from other sources. It may be as many as twenty pages with
four graphics each. Quite often when I'm scrolling through the document I
can't see the graphics. Sometimes I can see them when I stop scrolling but
other times they don't appear at all. I've found that if I go to the
Properties of the graphic and choose Reset that they may become visible, but
not always. I've installed all the available updates but that didn't make any
difference. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm not aware of? My computer
has a 3.06 Ghz HT Intel processor and has 1 Gb of memory, so that shouldn't
be the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Hans

Try changing your hardware acceleration. That sometimes helps with these
kinds of display issues.

Hi Hans,

I am glad to hear Echo's suggestion helps. It is highly appreciated.

I search some information about the possible reasons of pictures' display
issues. The suggestion provided by Echo is also included in the following
list (#6):

#1 The picture or object is formatted with a wrapping style other than In
line with text, and you are viewing your Word document in normal or outline
view.

#2 The picture or object is formatted with a wrapping style other than In
line with text, you are viewing your Word document in print layout or Web
layout view, and the Drawings option is turned off.

#3 The picture or object is formatted with a wrapping style other than In
line with text, and the Drawing objects option is turned off. This problem
occurs when you either print your Word document or view it in print
preview.

#4 The picture or object is formatted as In line with text, and the Draft
output option is turned on. This problem occurs when you either print your
document or view it in print preview.

#5 The picture or object is formatted as In line with text, and the Picture
Placeholders option is turned on.

#6 There may be a problem with the Video driver or Windows display settings.

For the detailed information, you may refer to the following article in
Microsoft Knowledge Base:

If you encounter other pictures' display issues, you can try the methods in
the above article.

Hello -- I have read all the notes about graphics not appearing in Word
documents. I have done everything everyone of them advises. I am in the
right view. I have the right boxes checked or unchecked. I have slowed my
accelerator. I have read through all the suggested articles on the topic. I
haven't been able to reliably see a graphic since I "upgraded" to a new
computer and new software. Please help -- any other product that worked this
horribly you could return to the store and get your money back!!!

Sounds like you haven't gotten the correct video card driver installed
in the "new computer" yet. Suggest determining what card you have and
visit the manufacturers web site and get the correct one and install it.
If you have an integrated motherboard graphics you will need to get it
from the MB manufacturer.
