Groove Error - Submit Error to Microsoft

B

Bryan

I have a Groove account on my desktop and my laptop (the multiple computer)
and when I log on to Groove on my laptop and wait approx. 2 minutes I receive
an error mesagage stating an error has occured and that I should submit the
error to Microsoft. The same message says that Groove must restart. I've
logged on 15+ times today and still get the same message and each time I've
sent the error report to Microsoft.

My laptop was running fine all last week and the week before and the week
before. My desktop is running Groove fine. What's going on? The "details"
of the information sent to Microsoft for the error is several pages long (too
long to include here).

I travel a lot for business and Groove is very important for me. Why do I
keep getting the error?

Based on your message, I understand that:
1. Your Groove account is using on two computers (the Desktop and the
Laptop). The Desktop is working fine.
2. However, Groove always crashes on the Laptop. The laptop was working fine
last week.

This issue may be related to the Groove installation or the Groove account
file on the Laptop. Follow the steps below to see if the Laptop works fine.

Step 1: Run the Groove Installation Verification utility (GrooveIV.exe).
================
The Groove Installation Verification utility, GrooveIV, resolves many
problems that are caused by incomplete installations. You must run this
utility in a command window, as follows:

1. Exit Groove program completely. Click Start, select Run, type cmd and
then click OK.
2. Open your Groove Bin folder. If you installed Groove in the default
location, you can do this with one of the following commands:
(on Windows 2000 or XP) cd \program files\groove networks\groove\bin
(on earlier versions of Windows) cd progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin
3. Type GrooveIV -nocom -nover -noreg -regall and press Enter.
4. Close the Command Prompt window.

If it doesn't work, go to step 2.

Step 2: Overinstall Groove
============
Exit Groove program. Download and over install the latest version of Groove
Virtual Office (3.1.1.2374). Here is the URL:
http://www.groove.net/downloads/groove/download-preview.cfm

Over-installing will not remove any licenses nor will remove any account or
space data. This is also no need to uninstall first.

If it doesn't work, go to step 3.

Step 3: Re-import the account file from the Desktop to the Laptop
=====================
1. On the Desktop, open Groove > click Options > Preferences > in Account
tab, save the account as a *.grv file > copy the *.grv file to the Laptop.
2. On the Laptop, open Groove > click Options > Preferences > in Account
tab, Delete the account on the Laptop > Restart the Groove program > double
click the *.grv file which was copied from the Desktop to re-import it on the
Laptop.

Test the issue again.
