Grouping totals

I have created a two-level grouping against the resource usage view. Fields
such as 'Work' will add up at the group level without a problem, but not
fields like 'Percent Allocation'. How can I have 'Percent allocation' add up
at the group level?

Thanks in advance for your help. This has been bothering me for a few days
now.

Hi David,

To the best of my knowledge, no. I have tried several experiments based
on your earlier posts and I get *very* mixed results with the percent
allocation showing on the group level outline. Sometimes it shows,
sometimes it doesn't.

I doubt this has made you any less bothered, but at least you may now
have confirmation of what you suspect -- it doesn't work reliably.

Thanks for trying. It seems that if it's a 'group of 1', i.e. a group with
a single line item, then the group level shows the total (i.e. the same
number as the line item in this case), but if there are two line items or
more then it just doesn't sum the values. It only seems to work for 'Work'
or 'Cost' related fields, nothing else.

Remember that mathematically percentages are not additive values. If I have
two resources, one allocated at 50% and the other at 40% and group them,
their combined allocation is not 90%. You have to sum the raw values that
the individual percentages are calculated from and then divide the resulting
totals to calculate the agregate percentage. That's why it seems to work
for a group of one but not for more.
