Half day task scheduling problem

First of all, I am a newbie to this software...

I have a project in which tasks are in increments of half days (4 hours).
When I start linking tasks with half day durations, Project will break the
work up into 5 hours for one task and 3 hours for the other, instead of
evenly distributing 4 hours and 4 hours. I have not changed the units from
100%. This presents a problem becasue it will cause the work associated with
2 half day tasks that were supposed to be completed in one day to be
completed over a 2 day duration (5 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour the next day).
Please help me understand why this might be happening.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi TJ,

What time does the first task start? To view start/finish times as well as
date go to Tools>Options and on the view tab select a date format that shows
time.

My guess (without viewing the file) is that you have a task that starts 1
hour into the work day (assuming an 8 hour work day) which forces that
remaining 1 hour into the second day. You may want to take a look at FAQ #
5 "Default Working Hours" at
www.mvps.org/project.

Mike Glen (Project MVP) has also written an excellent series of articles at:

http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23

which you may find very helpful to get you jump started with Project.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
