Hard Space between text and double point in French

Dear,

When I set French as language in the dictionary, and I type some text and
then a double point, Word 2002 makes a hard space between the text and the
double point. What can I do to have no hard space between the text and the
double point?

Thank you, Christophe

Hi Christophe,

That's the way the French prefer it.

The insertion is done by the same feature that replaces straight quotes
with smart quotes.

You can turn off the feature (AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat as you type
Replace text as you type > Straight quotes with smart quotes).

If you don't want to do that, maybe you can lie to Word about the language,
so that the French "Replace as you type" doesn't kick in.

Regards,
Klaus
