Have many Visio 5 Drawings that I need to see

How do I open Visio 5 drawings in a newer version! Why is
this product not backward compatible? If I have to redo
drawings everytime an upgrade occurs, can I backbill
Microsoft?
Please Help!! Phone support for this product is horrible!

Except for version 1, Visio has always been able to open files created by an
older version.

I open Visio 4 files in Visio 2000 or 2002 with no problem at all. Same
with stencils created in Visio 4.

One of the major strengths of Visio - I've used it happily since
pre-Microsoft days.
