Riddle me this, How can we stop the insert picture from
file dialog box from always reverting to thumbnail even
when we set it to list?

Why pay for an add-in when microsoft should follow their own convention
of folder option in windows.

Yes that is the correct meaning, by the way, I decided not
to let Microsoft win out and I did not need to use 3rd
party software. Instead of Insert --> Picture --> from
file, I use Insert --> Object... this shows the files in
the folder view settings that the user has chosen. No more
scrolling through thumbnails, it was simple but you never
know with Microsoft and the way that they think that you
want to use their software.

Just be aware that inserting as an object is not the same as inserting a
picture file. You may notice your file getting larger than expected.

Hello,

Based on customer feedback, this behavior was changed with the release of
Office 2003. In Office 2003, the Insert -> Picture -> From File... dialogs
in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher remember the view settings from the
last time the dialog was used.
