Help Index not working

In Powerpoint2000, when I go to the Help-Index Tab the inputbox does
not allow me to input any text. I am locked out of the input box. When
I move my cursor to the inputbox, I get a sideways arrow like this :
<---->. I tried to Repair and reboot but it still does not work. Any
ideas?
