Working with publisher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using Windows 2000 (professional) and running Microsoft Publisher 2000.

A colleague who uses Microsoft Publisher 2003 downsaved a file she had
created to a Microsoft 2000 Publisher file and emailed it to me.

When I try to open it, I still get the error message 'Publisher wont open
file from previous version'.

Please help

I dont have Norton Anti Virus. I am not sure about the sender of the email.

If they are using it, is that causing the problem? What do I need to do then?

Many Thanks

It could be. If it is, there's nothing you can do. Since you have the files,
send one to me at jl dot paules at gmail dot com. Let me try to save it as a
Pub 2000 file. Let's start there.

Why did you place JoAnn's real e-mail address on a Newsgroup? That is just
about the worst breach of etiquette that I have seen in many months. The
spam spiders will be on to it on their next rounds.

Not everyone is as "net-ettiquette" smart as you.

Doesnt mean you have the right to abuse them in return.

Chuck, you quoted the full email address in your reply!
I'd be inclined to class that as even worse than what Working with
publisher!!!!!! did!
(This is why bottom-posting with trimmage is so convenient)

ok. I have sent the file through to <snip>

I hope you have learned from this experience and Chuck's reply.

When someone spells out their email address using "dot" and "at", *stop and
think!*

Why would someone do that if they could just use the correct characters?

If they are doing that, it's normally a good idea to do the same yourself,
just in case.

There are robotic programs that go round the entire internet searching for
email addresses. Newsgroups are an easy target, as many people post using
their correct email address (the first place that addresses are taken from),
and also because many correct email addresses are placed in message bodies
(like you did).
The addresses are then placed on a database of email addresses to which spam
email is sent. Once you are on these databases, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
you can do to get off them. Apart from get another email address, which is
not a nice thing to have to do.
When the addresses are "munged" by replacing "." with "dot", etc., the
software does not recognise the address and it does not get harvested into
the database.

The rule on the internet even more than in the real world is THINK before
acting.
Too many people these days use the internet without the requisite thought.
