Help with accessing PWA 2007

Hi All,

I have just finished installing Project Server 2007 on a Windows
Server 2003 R2 Machine. I have tested locally on the machine and it
works as expected. This is how I tested it ( but first the IP config
to be sure)

Now to the problem,

First, trying to access the default sharepoint -80 application.



When using http://192.168.1.92 and http://localhost , the homepage is
displayed and the address bar changes to http://kic-bi/default.aspx

When using http://192.168.1.92/default.aspx and http://localhost/default.aspx
, the homepage is displayed and the address bar remains as keyed in.

When using http://localhost/pwa and http://192.168.1.92/pwa as the
URL, the PWA site is displayed, but the address bar changes to
http://kic-bi/PWA/default.aspx.

When using http://localhost/pwa/default.aspx as the URL, the PWA
site is displayed, and the address bar remains as http://localhost/pwa/default.aspx

When using http://192.168.1.92/pwa/default.aspx as the URL, I get an
error as below!!!

An unexpected error has occurred.

Using http://kic-bi/PWA/default.aspx and http://kic-bi/PWA has no
problems.



Now to external, different computer at a different location far far
away...

IP address 58.26.37.39 is used for external access. When testing using
the original default website, I get the usual Under Construction page
as expected when typing http://58.26.37.39 and address bar does not
change

Then I start the Sharepoint-80 site and type http://58.26.37.39 I get
the error page

The page cannot be displayed ...and the rest of it

Then I type http://58.26.37.39/default.aspx and without delay, the
Homepage is displayed!

So, let's move on to pwa now.

So I try http://58.26.37.39/pwa and get the same The page cannot be
displayed error.

So I try http://58.26.37.39/pwa/default.aspx and I again get the
error.

An unexpected error has occurred.

Does this have to do with the network settings ( I suspect so, but the
fact that it can display when I type http://58.26.37.39/default.aspx
gives me second thoughts. Also, when I stop the sharepoint - 80
application and start the default website of IIS 6.0 , it shows me the
Under Construction page by simply typing http://58.26.37.39 )

Any advice? Should I just go over to the network people and blame
them?

At the end of it, what I need is to make the application accessible
from outside the local area network through the IP address

I forgot to mention that there were no errors on the application lag.
I am using SQL Server 2005, Project Server 2007 with the latest
Service Pack. Also please note that in all cases, the prompt for
windows login is displayed, meaning the web server was actually
accessed!

I'm not sure this will solve all of your problems, but have you set up
the "alternate access mappings" in SharePoint Central Administration?

It's on the "Operations" tab under "Global Configuration" make sure
that your public url's are listed.

SharePoint does some host header stuff that causes problems when
Sharepoint doesn't know about a site url it should be handling. and PS
2007 is running under SharePoint, so SharePoint must be set up
correctly.
