help with numbering - heading styles

I have a project to creat template where heading 1 numbering starts at PART
A and heading 2 onwards the numbering is A.1, A.1.1 etc. any ideas hw to do
this???

It's fairly simple, but the instructions will depend on what version of Word
you have.

In that case, refer to

basic principles. If you start with the outline list that uses heading
styles and 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc., numbering, it will be a simple matter of
changing the "Number style" of Level 1 from 1, 2, 3 to A, B, C and adding
the PART label before it.
