help with Outlook send and receive

System details -- WinXPP, OfficeXP-Pro.

I am transitioning from Outlook Express. Is there any way to set up, or
force Outlook to "send only" or "receive
only", and to do so for each email account (I have several)? --- this can
be done with OE.

This is actually important to me. Defective messages occasionally get stuck
in my mailbox(es) at my ISP's mail server. When this happens, it prevents
all the messages in a User ID from downloading to me -- I can fix this
problem by logging in directly to my accounts and cleaning up the defective
stuff. Meanwhile, before I do my fixing, with OE, I am still able to send
out mail. As best I understand Outlook at this point, it appears I am
completely stuck until I go fix the mailbox problem, because Outlook insists
on doing all upload/download in one shot.

Since I have a lot to learn about Outlook (yes I do have some books, and I
am reading them) -- is there a website out there for Outlook, one that
explains its workings, similar to the excellent "Inside Outlook Express"

TIA

Tools > Send/Receive Settings > Define Send/Receive Groups > Highlight the
group (account) & select edit. Here you have the option to set the account
to send and/or receive

Krooz,

Thanks. Duh. Never even thought of looking in "Tools" to see what could be
adjusted and customized. I think I mught just add a few buttons to the
toolbar. Thanks for the heads up.

Receiving thanks for help (even if only in a small way) is worth the effort
