Help with WorkForce Assignements

I'm new to project and I've figured out alot on my own. I am, however,
stumped with allocating resources in terms of work force. Here's what I've
done and what I'm trying to do. I've read alot and just cannot seem to find
the info I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've set up aircraft that arrives into our facility or scheduled to arrive.
These are set up as tasks. Each aircraft may have between 1 - 5 different
departments involved with perform working. These departments are set up as
Resources. I may have 40 hours scheduled for Dept. 1, 10 hours for Dept. 2,
and so on. These hours are distributed over the time frame the aircraft is
here. Now, what I'm not finding is this...

I have 450 avail manhours (workforce) in every week for Dept. 1
I have 320 avail manhours in every week for Dept. 2 and so on....
I want to take each task's total work hours scheduled for the week and
deduct it from the their respective available workforce hours to give me an
"availability" of hours left for the week (or month, or quarter, etc). This
will allow me to figure out how much time I need to fill (or sale) in each
department. Example, Tasks 1, 2, and 3 have a total of 210 manhours
allocated for the week of Dec. 12th. There is a total of 420 hours avail to
work that week so I will have 210 hours left to sale or allocate for Dept. 1.
Dept. 2, and so on. The total workforce hours are determined as 11 people
are in Dept. 1, works 8 hours/day for 5 days = 440 hours.

Please help with a formula or something that might get me this information.
I may even have it set up wrong. I just don't know. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your post! Yes, I can view resource usage but I do not know how
to set up my resources for allocating my shop's capacity in man-hours. I do
not know if it is a custom column I need or if there is a formula, etc.

Thanks again, hopefully I'll have an answer before Christmas as that's my
timeframe to get this going!

Hi Ken,
We're only Saint Nicolas day!
In Resource sheet, set max.units (the capacity:
Dept. 1 1125 % (450hrs)
Dept. 2 800% (320 hrs) etc.
