"Hidden" Account

I am trying to delete an IMAP account from my outlook. It's not listed in the
account settings window, but is still an active account in the main screen.

That would indicate a corrupt mail profile.
You can try to reset via;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanprofile

If that doesn't work, recreate your mail profile;

I ran the 'clean profle' and that happened was outlook opened up. I also
looked at the recreate a profile and it says to open up 'mail' in the control
panel. There isn't a 'mail' option in my control panel

Where "Mail" is depends on your version of Windows, whether or not it is
64-bit and which display settings you have set Control Panel too. Either
way; it is there ;-)
