Hidden Page Number

I am using word 2000.

While I was trying to insert a page number into my header,
I accidently went to Insert- page number in the header. I
knew right away that I did not do this right but since I
did not see the page number, I thought it did not take. I
then put the page number in the header correctly. But now
beginning with page 2 there is a page number at the very
top, right hand corner of every page. I can't figure out
how to turn off this page number. Can someone help me??

Hello Aurora,

On page 2 or more, select 'Vies|Header and Footer', then select the page
number and press 'Delete'. Doing it once will delete it from all pages.

You can delete this easily enough, but you need to be sure you get the frame
along with the PAGE field. See
