Is there a way to have tasks that cannot always be seen, I am not refering to
hiding subtasks but speciffically not showing some tasks when printing etc.

new user,
Project cannot be set up to "hide" tasks from other users who have
electronic access to the file. However, it sounds like you only need to
"hide" tasks for hardcopy and that is very doable. Perhaps the easiest
method is to use a spare flag field (e.g. Flag1) to identify tasks you
do not want to show in the printout. Then create a filter
(Project/Filtered For/More filters) and create a filter that shows only
tasks with the flag field = false.

Hope this helps.

Dear Microsoft Office Project user,

I understand the question as some of the tasks needs to be hidden in view
and the reports.

Please follow one of the following options.
Option 1: Hide the Task Bar in timescale
a. Change your view to Gantt Chart based view
b. Double click the task to open the Task Information form.
c. Check the Hide task bar under General tab
d. Click OK.

Option 2: Hide the Task Name in Task Sheet
a. Insert a column, with the field name as Flag1 with the title has "Hide
task name"
b. Fill the appropriate values in the cells
c. Choose Project > Filter By: ..., Auto Filter
d. In "Hide task name" column, change the filter criteria accordingly.

Observation: View hides the tasks in the sheet and timescale. Report printed
(or) the data exported will not contain this hidden tasks.

Please let us know if this helps.
