How can I allign tasks that are not lined up with other tasks

I have been cutting and pasting from different project plans and they are not
lining up with the new project plan. Is there an easy way to allign without
having to reinput the task?

Hi Linda,

I'm not sure if you are referring to outline level (summary and
subtasks) or alignment of the text as far as left, center, or right.

For outline (summary and subtasks) you can use the Indent and Outdent
buttons on the Formatting toolbar.

For text alignment, the Align Left, Center, and Align Right buttons on
the Formatting toolbar should also assist.

Hi JulieS:
I am referring to the summary and subtasks. I am trying to take multiple
projects and turn them into one. When I paste a task in it doesn't line up
with the one I am creating. It's as if the app thinks it knows what I want
to do but incorrect. I decided to type them over manually.

Perhaps the inserted task is not going to the hierarchy where you want.
Why not just out dent or in dent it to match what you want?

I'm still having trouble distinguishing between the task labeled "the
one I am creating" with the task "being inserted".

Are you trying to create a master file so you can consolidated views of a
number of ongoing projects while also retaining the subprojects as their own
independent files or have you created a number of projects in separate files
that really should have been treated as one large project and now you're
trying to correct the error, copying the different subprojects into one
larger file and then deleleted to individual files when done?

Hi Linda,

Just to make sure, are you using Project 2003 without the service pack
(SP-2)? There was a bug in Project 2003 that made it impossible to
outdent tasks. See the following Knowledge Base article for information
on SP-2:
