Once you create the file, it will also be open in your Outlook profile. Just
use any of the usual methods to copy from one PST file to another:
Copy/Paste
Drag/Drop
Select All > Copy to Folder
etc.

Sorry but can you give me more specific instructions. I am not very computer
literate! I have saved the PST file in the 97-2000 format in on a memory
stick. How can I transfer the contacts folder to this memory stick using the

State more explicitly what you did.
Did you copy your Contacts into this PST file before you saved it?

I just created a new pst file that is compatible for Outlook 97-2002. How
would I copy the contacts into this new PST file? I am stuck!

The PST file is currently on my memory stick as I want to transfer this to
my office computer which is on Outlook 2002. My home personal computer is on
Outlook 2003.

Appreciate all your help.

If all you did was create a PST file but put nothing in it, then it contains
no data.
When you create any new PST file, it will appear in your Folder List in
Outlook. At that point you must copy the data you want to transfer from your
Outlook 2003 PST file into the Outlook 97-2002 PST file you just created.
Then you can save the Outlook 97-2002 PST file to your transfer medium by
first closing Outlook, then copying it to the transfer medium.
To access it, remove it from your storage medium, place it on a hard drive,
remove its read only attribute, then open it in Outlook > File > Open >
Outlook Data File...
