how can I format the footnote searator line

Switch to Normal view in Word 97-2003, or to Draft view if you are using
Word 2007. Display the footnotes pane (View | Footnotes in Word 97-2003;
References tab | Show Notes in Word 2007). In the pane, click the Footnote
Separator item. You can edit the separator, for example by copying and
pasting it to make it longer, or you can delete it and replace with other
formatting (such as a paragraph border).

Relatively new, yes--posted February 13, after we'd gotten a rash of
questions about note separators (which seems to be continuing).

I do what I can. <g> I wish I had more time right now to write/update
articles but unfortunately am currently inundated with other projects
(having only last night finally caught up with everything that piled up
while I was away at the Summit).
