How can I lock graphics/text boxes in place?

Simon Kearns

Hi,
My document has pictures and logos and text boxes that need to stay in the
same place (i.e. not move position if accidently clicked upon). Is it
possible to lock them?
Overall, I am using text boxes as placeholders for text that is pasted into
them when the document is updated each week but the position and layout of
the document must not change.
Should I be using master pages or something like that?
Thanks.
Simon.

This isn't something you can really do well with Word. The only way to "lock"
anything graphical is to protect the document as a form (or, with Word 2003
you also have the option of protecting particular ranges of text).

Since you're primarily concerned with dropping data into a document that
should not otherwise be changed, take a look at using a protection option
(forms, if you don't have Word 2003). You'll find information and tutorials
about how to use forms on word.mvps.org
