See http://www.gmayor.com/extract_images_from_word.htm. I think you'll find
that if the images are embedded in the document, there is no information
there about the original file type.

Hi Jay,

In Word 97 one could choose "photoeditor" in
"options, edit, picture editor".
Then simply click on a picture, probably choose edit,
and save it in one of some common formats.

Not so in Word 2003. The listbox "picture editor"
is still there, but no photoeditor or anything else.

Photoed.exe is present on my harddisk and working.

I wished there was some simple way out to extract images.
I know in PowerPoint its simple.
You can simply export the images in any format that you want

I have a similar problem and am probably looking for the solution in the
wrong place but....
I have images in a Word document that I run trough Language Translation
software. This converts the text but I am left with images that do not match
the language.
Does anyone know what software I should be looking at to solve this problem?

I have an opposite need. I have Words documents with Asian fonts.

I want to converted this text files into jpg or gif image files. So
that I can put it on htm web page. So far, I use pdf print output, then
convert to jpg file. The htm web page text is fussy and not solid black
text. Can you please tell me why and how to make solid black text pictures?

Thank you.

You would do better if you used an application designed for the task -
Snag-it will produce fine quality images from Word documents - see the many
examples in tutorials on my web site.
