How do commit a resource to part of a project task by date?

I have a series of project tasks that I wish to assign multiple resources to,
but do not want to have every resource work for the entire duration.

Example:

Task #1 is three months in duration. I wish to have one develop work for
three months, one for two months and one for one month.

How do I schedule/set this up?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Hi Ed,

You can manually edit a resource's work in either the Task Usage or Resource
Usage view.

You may also alter the resource's schedule by showing the Task Form (from
Gantt View choose Window Split.). Click in the Task Form and choose Format >
Detail and select the Resource Schedule format.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

The second option (split window) got me VERY close..

How would I build slack time into a task (start....stop...slack...restart
task)?

Thanks for the help so far, Julie!

Hi Ed,

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

For your second question: start and stops for the resource work would be
recorded in the Task or Resource Usage view. Enter zero hours for when you
want the task to "pause".

I hope this helps.

Hi,

The more elegant solution is to cut this long task in seevral smaller
pieces...

You're welcome Ed and thanks for the feedback. As Jan noted, it may be
more efficient to break up a larger task into smaller pieces.
