When I try to delete cropped portion of pictures, the compress fails.
The cropped piece is not permanently deleted.

MS Word and MS PowerPoint.

Saving the picture doesn't work. Once the pic is put into the Word or
PowerPoint document, you can click on the tool bar, click the crop tool and
VOILA - you can re-size the picture to show the full picture. We are trying
to cut confidential info out of the pictures so that we can use the rest of
the picture in training presentations, but this won't work if the user can
use the crop button to "un-crop" it.

Any help would be appreciated. Searching past discussion threads on this,
we found ones from a year ago saying this was a known problem with MS
software and I'm hoping that in the past year, there has been a fix.

After you crop it, you have to use "compress pictures" on the Picture
toolbar to remove the excess.

What you're seeing now is how the MS crop tool is designed to work -- it's
considered a "nondestructive" crop until you intentionally use the compress
tool on it.

Indeed often it fails.
I does only work in some defined cases, see thread "delete cropping and NOT
compressing or reducing resolution" by tom turtle.

Yes, it's a poor substitute for a real image editing program. May I
suggest "Irfanview" instead?
