How do I assign a unique tracking number in excel?

We are creating a new work request form in excel and would like to add a
unique tracking number to the request that will be carried over to the excel
database that will hold the information for each request.

i've done something similar with invoices - if you'ld like a copy of my
workbook email me direct at julied_ng at hcts dot net dot au ... it might
give you some ideas.
