How do I change duration from entered to calculated?

Hi All,
I'm a fairly new user of MS Project (and a first-time user of this site) and
I'm unable to get the duration and start and finish dates to reflect the FS
and FF links that I've entered. In other words, I enter a FS link and a FF
link for a task but it won't override the duration (and the start and finish
dates that the duration has determined). Can anyone help me out? Thank you.

AC,
Welcome to Project and to this newsgroup.

In Project, links between tasks do not impact Duration. Rather, they may
or may not impact the Start for Finish dates for a task. Duration is
simply the working time (based on the Project calendar) between the
Start and Finish of a task, or for a Summary Task, duration is the
difference in working time between the start of the earliest subtask and
the finish of the latest subtask. I might also add that duration time
and Work time are independent concepts.

Since you are new to Project, may I suggest you take a look at two
things. First, you may find it helpful to go to our MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
Then go to another part of our website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/links.htm
and take a look at fellow MVP, Mike Glen's series on Project lessons and
techniques.
