How do I delete processes from computer?

R

Rodd Ross

My Computer processing is slow. I am also experiencing system crashes, and
getting stuck or lockdown within various applications. I have been told by
my DSL help desk that I am running too many processes ( currently 60). I'm
trying to determine how do I delete most of these processes. The help desk
told me that the normal amount of processes ran at one time are about 25, I
am running 58 to 61. Could you give me some guidelines on how to reduce this
number and how to maintain a more normal number of processes running? My
operating system is Microsoft Home XP.

I suspect your PC is loaded with malware. If you aren't running a
firewall, anti-virus, checking for adware, and you are connected to the
internet, it's almost impossible to not be infected. Start by
downloading a copy of Ad-Aware SE and a copy of Spybot S&D and clean the
PC up. Further questions should be directed to a newsgroup dealing with
Windows XP, as the problem is not caused by MS Office which is the
purpose of this group.

That help desk is full of ____. Currently there are 63 processes running on my machine. A normal install of XP with nothing else installed will show "about" 25 processes.
