How do I edit forms scanned & saved in MS Word?

B

Bochaimo

I scanned a form and saved it into MS Word.
Then I tried to "fill in the blanks" and it will not allow me to do so?
Can someone please help me accomplish this task.
And since I'm not really computer literate, if you could please give me
step by step instructions I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
Bochaimo

It's going to be tricky!

You can read my beginner's forms series, Please Fill Out This Form,
here: www.mousetrax.com/techpage.html#autoforms.

What you'll need to do is put the form image in the header or in a
frame. Then layer another frame on top or close the header (if you go
that route) and add form fields to the document layer of the doc...or
in the upper frame if you go that route.

You may have to fuss a bit to get the form fields into the exact
locations on the form. And using tables to help stablize the form
fields will help. You might want to check out my Forms ebook's free
first lesson, as it's on formatting tables for forms. See:

http://www.mousetrax.com/TechCourses.html#samples

Once you get the form fields into the same locations as the image of
the form...you can print the document without the image by choosing
the Tools > Print > Form Data Only option.

You may want to also check out this TechTrax article:

And to learn how to handle the image inside the header, this TechTrax
will show you how to do with with holiday stationery...which is the
same method you'll want to use if you go that route...

Good luck!
