How do I edit the background in Microsoft Office Picture Manager?

When I pull up a pic in Picture Manager, many times the background is similar
in color to the picture. How can I change the background to a darker color?
(the background behind the picture, not edit the picture itself)

View it elsewhere, MS Paint, Microsoft Imaging, Fax and Picture Viewer,
Irfanview(download from web).

Thanks, but if Irfanview and Paint can change their background, why not
Picture Manager?

Yes, Paul, I agree that Paint and Irfanview can change backgrounds. When I
use the filmstrip view, many times my picture has the same color as the
background - kind of a creamish pinkish color. So it is official that MS
Picture Manager cannot?

If you right-click your desktop and choose Properties, what do you have
selected in the Appearance tab under Windows/Buttons and Color Scheme?

Picture Manager's background is related to your color scheme settings there,
but I don't know that it can be changed individually. What I mean is I use
Windows XP style with the Silver color scheme. If I hit the Advanced button
there and change what I think might be obvious settings that would apply to
the background in Picture Manager, it doesn't seem to make a difference. So
it's possible that Picture Mgr's background is truly tied to your
style/color scheme settings.

You're welcome to play with it further.
